Aspiring Author Contest
Each year aspiring fiction authors take a step closer to having their dreams come true by entering the Romance Slam Jam Aspiring Author Contest. The winners’ manuscripts are read by an editor or agent with a chance at publication or representation.

Genre: Black Romance and Women’s Fiction
Eligibility: If you have not had a full-length novel published by a traditional publisher, you are eligible for this contest. Therefore, if your publishing credits are, short stories, novellas, eBooks, poetry, non-fiction and or you are self-published, you are eligible.

Prizes: The four winners will have their submission considered for publication by one of the below traditional publishers.

    * Editor Esi Sogah from Harper Collins Publishers
    * Editor Latoya Smith from Grand Central Publishing
    * Editor Monique Patterson from St. Martin’s Press
    * Editor Selena James from Kensington Books

If you are interested in writing and would like an opportunity of possibly having your novel published, review the requirements and fees for the Aspiring Author Contest.  All submissions must be received by "Date to be Announced", 2012.


Romance Slam Jam Conference
April 11 - 15, 2012
Come join the STCC book club at this great event created for reading enthusiasts like ourselves. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet some of your favorite authors in person. They usually have about 40 authors scheduled to attend and you'll have a chance to have your books autographed as well. This should be a fun event. Activities Include: a Welcome Reception, a Mega Book Signing, a Keynote Luncheon, Reader Sessions With Authors, Writing Workshops, the Emma Awards Banquet, an Aspiring Author Contest, And much more.

Group discounts for 5 or more who attend so please do not hesitate to Contact STCC if you plan to attend so that we can all benefit from the discount. We will be traveling under the Beverly Jenkins group for added discounts so please let us know if you would like to be part of the discounted group. We would love to meet all of our members face-to-face so mark your calendars.

STCC Supports - Red Tails Movie

STCC MEMBER, Bonita from California: Organized a group of 28 people to see Red Tails on friday, January 2oth. Her group over heard the couple behind them who, by the way, where not "Negro" say, " That was a Good movie! - This movie will excite and entice viewers of all colors... or in other words... all proud AMERICANs and beyond.

STCC Book Club wants to congratulate a new company for e-books called InnerVision Books for being in business for over a year and a half and still going strong.
